Yeovil Railway Centre
6024 King Edward 1 seen from the cab of the class 50 diesel locomotive.
Members spent a pleasant 5 hours at the Yeovil Railway Centre on July 18th 2010. The
Centre was celebrating the 150 years since its opening in 1860 with an Open Weekend.
Trade stands were selling railway memorabilia and
there were model railway layouts from N to 0 scale as well as an outdoor
ride-on. Full size train rides were laid on in a heritage passenger
carriage pulled by the 130 ton 6024 King Edward 1. A steam Dreams
excursion visited, pulled by the Class 50 diesel 30777 Sir Lamiel.
A fuller account of the visit appeared in the Society’s SEARCH Report,
September 2010, and photos were be shown at the Members’ Evening
in November 2010.
